People in the Thornbury Carnival parade

Parade Entrants

The Parade always provides a fantastic start to Carnival day and usually features a variety of musical performers, adult and child walking/dancing groups, American cars, vintage cars and military vehicles but for this year’s event we want to make a big push to encourage more “floats”.

We’re not aiming to rival Bridgwater (just yet!) but we’re keen to receive float entries from the following categories:

Class 1 – non-mechanised entries, e.g. best-dressed wheelbarrow, child’s pedal car or homemade box cart
Class 2 – small powered entries, e.g. modified go cart, mobility scooter or golf cart
Class 3 – traditional carnival floats, e.g. decorated pick-up trucks, converted car trailers or something larger

Prizes for each category will be provided by local businesses.  Whilst the general theme for the 2019 Thornbury Carnival is “Sport for All”, this is entirely optional and so the theme for any float can be open to your imagination – it may reflect a business or a local interest.

If you would like to enter the Carnival Parade, please complete the online application form by Friday 14th June 2019.

If you have any queries regarding the Parade, please email parade@thornburycarnival.co.uk.
