Collecting for community groups at Thornbury Carnival parade

Community

Thornbury Carnival is organised and delivered by a small committee of volunteers working on a not-for-profit basis with any surplus being donated to local charities and support groups.  Past recipients of donations include:

Bristol Academy of Live Performing Arts (Thornbury) – Providing tuition for dancers, singers and musicians in the heart of Thornbury.

Jigsaw Thornbury – A small group set up by parents to support families with children and young people with any additional needs ranging from dyslexia to complex disabilities or health problems.

Memory Café – A regular event for those suffering from memory problems, their carers, family or friends.  The Memory Café provides an opportunity to chat with others with similar problems.

PHASE Thornbury – A community interest company which seeks to draw together sources of support and create a community of organisations and services to meet the needs of young people and parents in the Thornbury area.

Thornbury Gospel Generation Community Choir – A friendly community choir, open to those with or without previous experience.

Thornbury Litter Busters – A voluntary group which organises monthly litter-picks and also helps to clear up after many of the special events in the town (including Thornbury Carnival!)

Thornbury Musical Theatre Group (TMTG) – A long established and successful amateur theatre group, performing regularly at the Armstrong Hall and at one-off events at other venues.

If your organisation would like to be considered for next year’s Carnival please email chair@thornburycarnival.co.uk.
