One of Thornbury Carnival’s aims is to raise awareness of and funds towards the work of local good causes. Below are some of the local charities and support groups we’ve supported in the past:

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) – Providing emergency care to people who are in a state so critical that they require specialist care at the scene of an accident or medical incident. GWAAC saves lives across Bristol, BANES, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and parts of Wiltshire.

Krunch – Running a facility for young people in the local area, the Youth Hub at Thornbury Skate Park, focusing on positive activities and emotional well-being.

Bristol Academy of Live Performing Arts (Thornbury) – Providing tuition for dancers, singers, and musicians in the heart of Thornbury.

Jigsaw Thornbury – A small group set up by parents to support families with children and young people with any additional needs ranging from dyslexia to complex disabilities or health problems.

Memory Café – A regular event for those suffering from memory problems, their carers, family, or friends.  The Memory Café provides an opportunity to chat with others with similar problems.

PHASE Thornbury – A community interest company that seeks to draw together sources of support and create a community of organisations and services to meet the needs of young people and parents in the Thornbury area.

Thornbury Gospel Generation Community Choir – A friendly community choir, open to those with or without previous experience.

Thornbury Litter Busters – A voluntary group that organises monthly litter picks and also helps to clear up after many of the special events in the town (including Thornbury Carnival!)

Thornbury Musical Theatre Group (TMTG) – A long-established and successful amateur theatre group, performing regularly at the Armstrong Hall and at one-off events at other venues.
